It is impossible to state that any given dog will be completely free of a genetic imperfection.
In our breeding program, we only breed to animals certified with an OFA rating of GOOD or EXCELLENT, and CERF rating of NORMAL.
We try very hard to research the backgrounds of the sires and dams and any litters they may have produced. Only then, when
we are satisfied that these animals are sound, do we breed. We feel that by adhering to these standards we are cutting down
the odds of producing a defective pup or litter. Therefore, we offer this guarantee, providing the purchaser complies with
this agreement.
OFA will only certify dogs who have reached 24 months of age. For this guarantee to be honored, the dog MUST
be X-rayed and certified within six (6) months of reaching 24 months. Blue Ridge Retrievers does not recognize Penn Hip certifications.
Defects caused by reasons of mistreatment, obesity, or abuse will not be warranted or replaced. If any action
is taken in regards to any health problem pre contacting Blue Ridge Retrievers of the potential problem the warranty
is considered null and void. A complete medical history, provided by your vet and mailed directly from his office, has to
be submitted for review.
CERF will certify pups at 6 weeks of age. When possible, we try to have the pups' eyes examined before they
leave our kennel. If we are not able to have this done at that time, the eyes MUST be certified by the time the dog reaches
one (1) year of age to be covered under our warranty.
If a problem should arise before the dog reaches the required age stated herein, you MUST have OFA evaluate
the X-rays and send you a copy of their findings, or a copy of the CERF evaluation from a Board Certified Canine Ophthalmologist.
When the following requirements are met, this GUARANTEE will be in effect and honored by BLUE RIDGE RETRIEVERS:
1. A copy of the findings from OFA or CERF MUST be sent to us for our records. Your dog's medical history MUST
be mailed to me directly from your dog's vetrinarian.
2. THE DOG MUST NOT HAVE BEEN BRED.
3. Along with a copy of the dog's complete medical history we will need a letter from your vet,
identifying the tattoo and/or microchip of the dog, and that it has been neutered or spayed.
4. THE TATTOO AND/OR MICRO-CHIP MUST APPEAR
ON ALL DOCUMENTS OF CERTIFICATION.
5. AKC Registration papers must be signed over and returned to Blue Ridge Retrievers.
6. I do not guarantee breedability of any dog.
7. This Guarantee is Nontransferable.
At this point, when we are satisfied that a problem does exist, the animal has not been bred and has been
neutered, we will 'replace' your current puppy (which you can keep) with another comparable puppy of breeders choice. Once
the replacement puppy is taken to the vet for a well puppy vist AKC registration paers will be mailed
to the owner under limited registration. Any warranties spoken, written or expressed are
not valid on replacement puppy. The expense of transportation of initial 'defective' puppy back to Blue Ridge
Retrievers or shipment of replacement puppy will be assumed by the purchaser. This choice will be made by the purchaser.
Any and all costs incurred due to shipping a puppy or adult dog to or from Blue Ridge Retrievers for
any reason will be paid by the purchaser.
